Nose bleeding is a common ailment where tiny blood vessels in the nose lining start bleeding.
It is also called ‘epitaxis’ and occurs mostly in children because of trauma or nasal drying. The cold dry weather in winter and summer air conditioning tends to induce nasal drying. Nose bleeding is not that bothersome, and can be treated using home remedies for nose bleed.
If the nose bleeding is because of nasal drying, place some KY jelly half an inch into the nose using Q-tip, two to four times a day. However do not use Vaseline instead of KY jelly as Vaseline is petroleum based and will dry and not moisten the nose.
Another nose bleed remedy is to pinch the nose firmly at the bridge of the nose, just below the nose for 2-3 minutes till bleeding stops. Do not lie down or tilt your head backwards as this only makes the blood enter your throat, and make you sick. Also do not blow your nose as it can blow the clot out, and make your nose bleed once again.
Another popular nose bleed remedies is to soak a small cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, and pack it lightly into the nostril. This helps the blood to congeal, and stop nose bleeding.
Try putting a drop of lemon juice in your nostrils and a wet towel on the head. You will find that this helps in stopping nose bleeding as lemon is a good antiseptic that induces blood coagulation.
If your surroundings are dry, humidify the air by installing a good air humidifier. Too dry environments make your nasal lining dry up and induce nose bleeding.
Take a fine powdered mixture of equal parts of liquorice, naagakesara and red sandalwood. You then have to add 2-3 pinches of this powder to a glass of milk and drink it for a good nose bleed remedy.
Another popular home remedies for nose bleed is to make goldenseal tea by adding a teaspoon of it to a pint of boiling water. Let this tea seep for a few minutes and then settle. Once the tea gets cold, snuff some of it into your nostrils several times a day to prevent its recurrence.
If the cause for the nose bleeding is nasal dryness, then try salt water treatment for treating the condition. You just have to add a pinch of salt to water and spray this mixture into your nose. The dehumidifying and anticoagulant property of this salt water will stop nose bleeding.
Freshly prepared amla juice inserted as nasal drops is an effective nose bleed remedy. The vitamin C in amla juice is a natural antioxidant that helps repair cellular damage and nose bleeding. Moreover, vitamin C helps reduce the severity of cold and thus helps stop nose bleeding.
Last, but not least, drink lots of water everyday as it helps hydrate your body and prevents nasal drying. However if nose bleeding persists even after trying all these home remedies for nose bleeds, it is better to consult a doctor.
