A sinus infection can be caused by all type of reasons. Sinus infection symptoms can develop through colds, flu, headache, allergies, and even a stuffy nose.  Sinus infections are also referred to as sinusitis in medical terms. It is common for people to have sinus infections and some may be long lasting, while others with sinus infection disappear quickly with treatment.

If an individual has pain in the regions such as pain behind the eyes, forehead, or nose, they might be dealing with a sinus infection. Sometimes people may feel only this pain, while in other cases, they may have the pain associated with a stuffy nose and cold.

There are many sinus infection medications and over the counter medications that can help with this type of infection. Are you wondering what a sinus infection is? Symptoms and signs of sinus infection are caused by forming bacteria in the sinus cavities. Our sinuses are known as little openings that connect with nasal openings. This allows the mucous and air flow to pass through. If a sinus cavity becomes filled with mucous then it can become infected or swell up. If this is left untreated; most people will experience a headache or migraine.

Sometimes we can use over the counter medications that can cause us to feel sinus pain and headache. While they may destroy the bacteria, they can cause a person to experience instant pain. The bacteria that cause sinus infections are numerous. Sometimes outside environmental pollutants can cause a person to develop a sinus infection. Even illegal drugs and cigarette smoke can irritate the nasal passages.

The symptoms of sinus infection can include greenish nasal discharge, mucous in the throat, sore throat, and frequent coughing.  Most of the time people tend to choose Aspirin or Tylenol instead of going to the doctor. It is recommended that a person suffering from symptoms of sinusitis see a doctor as it is essential to be treated accurately. If Tylenol does not work to relieve pain your doctor might prescribe you an antibiotic that may be taken over a course of 8 to 12 days.

A sinus infection remedy may be garlic juice. Garlic is known for its amazing properties and helpful ingredients. Try taking garlic supplements when you experience sinus symptoms. You can also drink garlic juice or inhale a steam vapor of garlic. Place a few garlic cloves into a bowl and allow the vapor to rise. Inhale deeply and exhale. Ask your doctor about the benefits of garlic on sinusitis, colds, the immune system, and even flu.

Sinusitis is easily treatable, but in some rare cases the nasal passages do not dry up. This may lead to a surgical procedure which includes the opening of the nasal passages. Sinusitis is not a nice experience to go through, but with the right treatment, you will be free of headaches and pains, as well as experience regular breathing patterns. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you may have.
