Every time you get to hear someone speak about food poisoning, take him of her back to the kitchen. This is actually where it all begins and certainly not where it all ends. On the other hand, if your symptoms last for more than a day after treatment, you diarrhea with pus and blood in, you have a high fever and you are getting weaker, you should consult your doctor as soon as you can. Serious conditions like e coli are always characterized by such symptoms.

Of all the remedies for food poisoning, bed rest is the best home remedy.  Nearly all food poisoning cases are caused by bacteria or parasites that enter the body in their great numbers as soon as one ingests contaminated food or drink contaminated water or drink. As a self-defense mechanism, your body will send antibodies to deal with the invasion. Relief may take some time as the antibodies do not always work promptly. You must therefore rest as the body naturally fights off the bacteria and the parasites. Restrain yourself from other activities till you feel better. Then during this time do not eat too much as the condition may worsen if you remain on an empty stomach for a long time.

A mixture of vinegar and lemon juice in a cup of hot water is also one of the best home remedies for food poisoning. For best results when using this home remedy solution, consume the mixture before mealtimes.  A few drops of garlic oil in half a cup of soya oil can also go a long way when it comes to food poisoning relief. Though strange, eating bread is a good home remedy for food poisoning. It will soak the poison and give you some relief. Just make sure that you eat a few slices as too much bread can worsen the condition. Other home remedies like chamomile and mint teas may also be used.
