Keep in mind that though you can recover from herpes, the virus that causes it will remain in your immune system for the rest of your life. It will then remain dormant till such a time when a few circumstances and conditions can provoke it and make it active once more leading to recurrent episodes of herpes.

Aloe Vera is one of the best herbal cures for herpes. It is good for soothing the itch and the damaged skin after and herpes outbreak. For best results use the fresh and natural gel from an aloe Vera leaf. Simply cut the leaf vertically and use the fresh gel dripping form it on your skin. You can still use aloe Vera gels from health stores but then you will have to be patient as they are not as effective as the fresh gel form the leaf.

Sores caused by herpes can lead to permanent marks on your skin. To prevent this use essential oils on your skin. Use vitamin A and E oils on your skin. Other essential oils like rose hip, calendula, jojoba, olive leaf and golden camellia can also be used.

If the condition is really stubborn, then use tea bags to treat the condition. They are rich in tannins which have great antibacterial and antiviral properties. Simply use tea bags just like you normally use them and put them in refrigerator. Then once they are cold, use the tea bags as cold compresses on the sores 3 or 4 times a day for five minutes.

Ice can be used to soothe the sores. It will relieve the herpes itchy sensation and the pain it causes. Just get an ice pack, apply it on the affected areas for 10 or 15 minutes four times a day till you feel better. Baking soda and corn starch can also be used for the same purpose. Simple use a damp cotton piece and soak it in baking soda. Then use it on the affected areas. If you cannot get baking soda or you just do not like it, use cornstarch instead.

Then remember to eat will and exercise so as to build a strong immune system. Your meals should be well balanced full of green vegetables, whole grains and fruits. You should also drink more water preferably 8 to 10 glasses daily. This will keep your hydrated and restore your skin. If you have genital herpes, refrain from intercourse at least till you are well.
