It can easily cause the affected tooth to become very lose and make it hard for you to eat or drink anything.

While there may be several home remedies for the condition, visiting a dentist is mandatory as most of the home remedies only aim at draining out the pus or reducing inflammation. As a first aid measure the right thing to do is drain the gum boils first though it may be a bit painful. Then keep in mind that you will always notice there is something wrong with your teeth each time you get an uncomfortable feeling on the gums when chewing or just when the teeth are idle. Always consult a dentist before the condition worsens or before pain beckons.

Placing a small piece of potato or a dry black tea bag inside the cheek is one of the best home remedies for an abscessed tooth. If you can do that overnight then that would be a plus for you but just an hour with the potato of the tea bag is enough. These two simple home remedies will drain the pus out and reduce the swelling

You can also try to make a gum poultice or a pack for the painful tooth. This can be done by the use of baking soda and salt. Just mix half cooking salt with half baking soda, then get a cotton ball, dip it in the mixture and stuff the wet cotton ball in your mouth between the abscessed tooth and your cheek. Leave the cotton ball for a few hours before you can remove it. It will drain the pus, reduce the swelling and cut out the pain.

Sometimes the abscessed tooth can ooze opus without you doing anything to it. When this happens, you will feel an unpleasant taste in your mouth doe to the pus. Brush your teeth with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide the gargle with any mouth wash or H2O2 disinfectant. After gargling, soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and apply it on the painful pus discharging abscess. You can aid the drainage by pushing against you cheek lightly. But be careful when doing this as if you push with force you may cause the pus back into your blood stream. This will then case other infections which may cause more pain.

Taking garlic capsules is also good for an abscessed tooth. Just three of even four garlic capsules will heal as garlic is a natural antibiotic. Take the capsules for five days or at least till you feel better. Avoid hard food as that will leave debris around the abscessed tooth and do more harm than good.  If you have to eat anything that will leave more debris in your mouth then brush your teeth immediately after eating such foods. Then remember to consult your dentist for appropriate medical treatment for an abscessed tooth
