Prolonged computer usage, LASIK surgery, aging, hormonal changes in women and some diseases like diabetes and arthritis are the common causes for dry eyes. Even extreme windy weather, smoke exposure, air conditioning and contact lenses can lead to dry eyes.

Eat lots of green leafy vegetables and drink 8-10 glasses of water every day to maintain your eye moisture levels.

It is better to eat vitamin A rich fruits and vegetables as it is good for your eyes. However avoid red meats for its toxic fats, fried foods, sugar, coffee, smoking and hydrogenated oils.

Make it a point to blink frequently, especially while at the computer. Blinking reduces eye dryness as tears spread whenever you blink, which consequently increases eye moisture levels. Take a break from the computer every 20 minutes and massage the upper and lower lids a few times a day.
