It actually depends with the cause of the lump. If it was caused by an injury it will most likely go by itself even if it takes time to completely go. However, there are other causes that may make the lump stubborn and hard to remove even with medical treatment. It is a wise thing to visit a doctor for assessment so as to know if the lump may be cancerous or nothing serious. Common causes of lumps on the forehead are dermoid cyst, sebaceous cyst, and neurofibromatosis or Von Recklinghausen disease. For any of the above mentioned conditions, you would need medical treatment. There is likelihood that your doctor will refer you to a plastic surgeon or may use antibiotics with ant-inflammatory agents to cure the lump. Note that if it sis cancerous, then you will be lucky as in most cases anything cancerous is always beat and easily treated in the rely stages. Avoid disturbing the lump often. Leave it that away and follow the medication your doctor may give you to the later. Disturbing or stressing the lump may cause pain or slow down the healing process. If you feel like you need any other form of treatment, then the best and the wisest thing to do is to consult your doctor or dermatologist first.
