Talk to your doctor and your partner – the sooner you do, the sooner you can beat your impotence. Below are some common treatments for impotence:

•    Vacuum Device: vacuum devices are generally safe and are used directly on the penis to help suction blood into the penis. Once an erection is achieved, a tension ring can be place at the base of the penis, keeping the blood in the penis and thus sustaining an erection. Read labels and safety warnings carefully. These products are generally very safe when used as directed.

•    Yohimbe: Although its efficacy has been questioned, Yohimbe has been used for centuries in Africa to help sustain erections. Yohimbe come from an African tree bark. Yohimbe should be ingested about 30 minutes before sexual activity.

•    Ginseng: A veritable cure-all, ginseng has been used in Chinese medicine to enhance sexual performance for hundreds of years.

•    Damiana: used to fight depression, which is directly linked to impotence. Speak to your doctor before taking damiana.

•    Abstaining from Alcohol: Alcohol can be a main cause of impotence. Try going alcohol free for week and see if your performance improves.

•    Quitting Smoking: Smoking has been linked to impotence because it slows blood flow. Quitting smoking can help improve erection performance.

Besides physical aids and herbs, anyone experiencing impotence should speak to their doctor and their loved ones. Openly talking about, and investigating your impotence is a great way to release the stress of your ‘secret’, and bringing g the attention back to the problem in a positive manner. Speaking to your partner about impotence can have a huge impact on your performance, much the way exposure therapy works for people with mental disorders.

After talking about it, when you do have a sexual encounter, get rid of the performance anxiety and just have fun. You both know that you are experiencing ‘temporary’ erectile dysfunction, so just relax and have fun. You’d be surprised how easy it is to sustain an erection when you are no longer worried about it.
