Flu Treatment

The flu is something that no one likes getting, but everyone gets it at some point in their life. One of the most common types of flu is the stomach flu. You could be eating out with your family one day, and then doubled over in the bathroom the next. Before we jump into flu symptoms, you need to know that the stomach flu is also called a viral gastroenteritis.

It is very easy to get this flu, because all you have to do is simply come into contact with someone that has it. At least the good news is that most people recover without any kind of complications.

So, who can get the stomach flu? The bad news is that anyone can get it. No matter how safe you are, and even if you watch what you eat, you can still end up with this flu. The good news is that it normally does not cause too many problems for most people. You are going to be in pain for a while, but soon it will go away, and you will have nothing to worry about.

Flu symptoms can, of course, vary depending on the person. However, most of the time, when talking about the stomach flu, there are a few things that seem to be pretty common. First of all, you are likely to have some watery diarrhea. If there is blood in the diarrhea, then you could have something worse than the stomach flu. During this time, you are going to have abdominal cramps, or just pain in general. Most of the time, you are not going to be able to get over the stomach flu without doing some vomiting. Also, since your body will not feel good, you can expect to have some muscle aches, headaches, and maybe a low fever. Keep in mind that the stomach flu normally lasts about two days. However it is not unheard of for them to persist for as long as 10 days!

Going to see your doctor is not something that you normally have to do for the stomach flu. Your doctor will, however, be able to diagnose if it’s the stomach flu or not. Normally this can be done by answering a few simple questions for your doctor and maybe taking a physical exam. If needed, a stool test can also detect if there is something else that is wrong, besides the stomach flu. Of course, a stool sample is normally only taken to check for bacteria and infection.

Here comes the worst news about the stomach flu, and that is the fact that there is no stomach flu treatment out there. This is because antibiotics are not effective against things like viruses. The best remedy for stomach flu is for you to take care of it at home.
